Testimonials

Quilt shops and fabric sales are always special. I particularly appreciate the time and care your staff gave me on the first day of your Anniversary Sale. Your staff toted many bolts of fabric so I could find just the right selection for my Around the World quilt. Keep quilting!

Barb’s Bi-Weekly Bulletin - August

Posted August 4, 2016

As I sit down to write this Bi-Weekly Bulletin to you this morning, it’s sort of a scary though to think that summer is almost half over with. Have I accomplished half of what I wanted to this summer?  Have I “played” enough? Have I taken the time to “smell the roses” as my mom would say?  There’s 3 days left in July so I guess I’d better do double time in the next 3 days!

I did “play” for ten days in Portland earlier this month.  My friend and I went on a bus tour with Stitchin’ Heaven Travel Company to the Sister’s Quilt Show in Sisters, Oregon. A grand time was had by all!  Leading up to the quilt show which is always held on the 2nd Saturday of July, we visited 7 quilt shops, an alpaca farm, a lavender farm and the Multnomah Falls which is the 2nd highest fresh water falls in the U.S.  But of course, the highlight of the whole trip was the quilt show in Sisters on Saturday.  Quilts are only hung 1 day from 9 - 4, on the outsides of the buildings all over the town.  It took us the entire day to walk the streets to see the 2300 quilts! All week long, it had called for rain on Saturday so thought we had traveled the long distance for naught, but woke up Saturday morning and the rain forecast was gone.  It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day-fantastic quilt show-my batteries were energized and another item crossed off my bucket list.

Now back to reality….....Following are 3 lines that have arrived at Mt. Pleasant from Quilt Market:
The NEW colors of Grunge by Moda:  Do you know you can use the “wrong” side of the Grunge for a solid? Check it out when you’re in!

Sweet Tea by KariAnne Wood by Hoffman. A very pretty “sweet"line!

Welcome Home by Maywood.  A Mixed Bouquet Quilt Kit is available too!

If you like sunflowers, you will enjoy this class: Sunny Trio.  It is Thursday, August 4th. The 28” x 34” wallhanging is made using Moda’s Sunflower Song Charm Pack.  There are a few openings left.

In a few weeks, I will be writing my Sept- Dec. newsletter- doesn’t seem possible.  Remember to evaluate your summer goals and see if you need to do double time in the next month to accomplish them or…. cross some off and say “Nope-I’m relaxing!”

Sewingly,

Barb
